Contents page 1 Production Video

Here i started my front cover on Photoshop, i used a modern font Called Trendy; the name shows that it is funky and it will target boys aged (11-16)

I used the background i created and i made a new layer and selected the picture with the magic wand tool and took of the green background, i then added it to my cover








Here i have added another picture to accompany the central image, i also have selected the face with a white air brush and i have set the opacity to 50, i then put the layer on 'soft layer' so it never looked as obvious and the face looked lighted from the right side(convention of magazines).





Here is the process of my text, i put some other colours into my cover so it offered a range of colours to the audience and so there was a contrast between the texts, moreover it carried on my house style of pinks purples and blues.

Also i have put another picture of a camera ( one of myself taking a shot) to make it obvious what you can win in the magazine.

I also created a barcode on the 'paint' progamme so i had a realistic look on the front cover and because it is a code and convention of Magazines.


Here i have changed some of the layout and moved and enlarged some texts and shapes.

I have changed the colour of the circle to emphasise the contrast and make it stand out.

Moreover, i took this screenshot because you can see the different layers i added and how much effort it took into getting it perfect, although i fully enjoyed the process

Football photos

Only one of these photos will be used for my contents for the sports info. i never chose the first one (the one with another student in), because accidentaly someone ran into the shot moreover i tried to move the camera and it resulted in a poor shot, due to the positioning of the model. i will be using the other one because it is cool and modern and has the football in shot so i can relate to it, for the text in my contents.

All of these shots (ones from other posts) will be cut out from the background and added to my contents page and some for the cover

I chose the first picture of Darren, because in the other one they was smiling and the smaller boy james was bending his head to much to the left, it wouldnt be appropiate for my contents. Moreover in the one i chose they looked more sophisticated and were more focused on the camera; it will look more better than the other one on my contents page and it will look as if they are relating to the inside info.

These images are going to be used for my central image on my front cover, moreover i used the 2nd picture (one with hand up) for it. the other picture wasnt as good because he wasnt very focused on the camera and he was smiling. I used the 2nd one because he was pointing up. this could be used to his hand point to the masthead, which makes the photo and masthead relate.

Audience Questions

I asked 6 of my freinds to fill out questionares so i could get more ideas and so i knew which audiences to target.

Girls

Joanne: '' i would like it to appeal to girls and boys and maybe parents''

Pauline: '' maybe just boys''

Rosmeta: '' i would like to see a mixture of targeteted audiences''

Boys

Darius - '' ...boys would be the ones buying your magazine due to the blue colours''

Samuel - " ... i think it should be just boys ... they need more influencing about education"

Darren - " because most of your photos are of boys it would be better if you targeted males... it would be easier to target one audience than targeting to many and then the audiences wouldnt know if it is appealing to them"


Based on the feedback i have decided to totally target boys and to make the house style mainly blue with hints of purple to keep my male target audience

School Magazine Final ideas

Name: A - star (links in to education and makes the reader feel like they are reading something complex, but the fonts and colours will target my audience and will represent a funky and modern house style.

House style : blues and purples fonts and the background will all be linked and similar to maintain the same feeling of the magazine and to give a unique sense about the magazine

Price: £1.00 - i made it cheap because students will probably be spending most of their money

Strapline : Grab a copy... get an A-star!

Articles will include sport events and the main feature article is about how to achieve an a-star... linking in with the masthead

Double page contents : first page will have pictures surrounded by lures (exlcusive interviews and games to win) the second page will have the inside information and will include the similar background to the cover, moreover the information will relate to the front cover ; the pictures on the cover.

I will be using Adobe Photoshop to edit my photos and to adjust them so when its printed it looks clear and perfect.

These pictures of me taking shots indicate that i toom them all myself and that they images are all original. During the shooting i realised that i needed extra lighting and i needed to focuse the camera more to maintain that professional look, in addition, this pictures show how enjoyable photography is.

Photoshoot!

My teachers set up some professional lights and high quality cameras so i could take some pictures and insert them into my front cover and contents page, i asked a few freinds and students if they would allow me to take some shots of them, moreover, my teachers took shots of the whole process. I took some of the shots in my own time and some in lesson, because then i could get the people i wanted in my magazine; they wouldnt be availabe due to different classes.

Here i have stated the main ideas dor my contents page, i have sketched out a large masthead, articles and some pictures. In addition, i have noted other key aspects to include when i produce the magazine.








































Here i have sketched out some main ideas for a front cover, i have inlcluded ideas for articles and i have used the main codes and conventions of magazines to make it look realistic and so i can apply it thet o actual magazine.

Flatplan

I will be making draft sketches and drawings of my school magazina and appyling my research of magazine codes and conventions to it. Moreover, the annotations and research have gave me an idea of a house style and layouts to follow for my magazine. I will be uploading the pictures onto my blog shortly.
